Canadian Museum for Human Rights: Story Release Agreement

I hereby give and grant to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights the absolute and unqualified right in perpetuity to the use of my story and input (including video, audio, transcripts, photos, documents and images), in whole or in part, provided voluntarily by me.

I understand that the purpose of the Share your Story program is to gather stories and input to guide the curators, exhibition designers and other museum staff and appointed consultants in developing the exhibitions and public programs for the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.

I understand that all input collected may be used by the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, in whole, or in part, for a number of uses, including, but not limited to, permanent, temporary and traveling exhibitions, public presentations, books, audio or video documentaries, articles, public performance, public programming, communications and marketing material, in schools material and on the website www.humanrightsmuseum.ca.

These stories, tapes, transcripts, notes, and photos will be deposited in the Canadian Museum for Human Rights Knowledge Centre for future use by students, educators, and researchers.

Reproduction, distribution, display, and the creation of derivative works based on my story will be at the discretion of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights staff or its appointed consultants.

In making this contract I understand that I am conveying to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights all legal title and literary property rights which I have or may be deemed to have in giving this story as well as my right, title and interest in any copyright related to this story which may be secured under the laws now or later in force and effect in Canada. I transfer all of the above rights without limitation.

This gift, however, does not preclude any use that I myself want to make of the information in these transcripts and recordings.

I herein warrant that I can be construed as the “owner” of this story and have not assigned or in any manner encumbered or impaired any of the aforementioned rights in my story.

This Agreement relates to any and all materials originating from the online submission, namely video/audio recordings, any transcripts or other written manuscripts prepared from or using the tapes, or any images that might be used.
